10,571,632 plastic items

To date, our subsidies have eliminated more than 10 million single-use plastic food ware items from the waste stream. We’ve done that by subsidizing the purchase of 51,154 reusable items at 69 restaurants and 40 schools in 10 states…
• 27,160 reusable utensils
• 10,825 reusable trays
• 5,297 reusable cups/mugs/glasses
• 3,104 reusable sauce cups
• 1,586 reusable bowls
• 1,740 reusable plates
• 593 reusable containers
• 476 reusable bottles
• 264 reusable straws
• 100 reusable lids
• 9 reusable specialty/other items

Our amazing partners at Rethink Disposable have released dozens of case studies showing that restaurant after restaurant SAVES MONEY by switching to reusable food ware. A few of their case studies have been done for restaurants subsidized by PlasticFreeRestaurants.org:
Jersey Joe’s Coastside in Half Moon Bay CA
House of Dim Sum in San Francisco CA
Ballast Coffee in San Francisco CA
As more of these case studies are produced for restaurants and schools we’ve subsidized, we will add them to this page.

We are recruiting new restaurants and schools every month. This page will be updated frequently.

Last update 2/15/24.
