How Do I Get A Subsidy?
Our subsidy program is available to any food service establishment that currently gives single-use items containing either petroleum-based plastic or PFAS to its customers (or students), is willing and ready to switch to reusables, and is not required by (local, county, state) law to discontinue using the single-use plastic. Before you apply for our subsidies, please save yourself (and us) some time by making sure that you will qualify. Again, we subsidize switches from single-use items containing petroleum-based plastic or PFAS to reusables, and we do so only if such a switch is not mandated by law. If you do not fit these parameters, you will not be approved for a subsidy from us :).
There are just three steps to receiving a subsidy:
1. Collect your most recent three months of invoices for the single-use plastic products you’d like to replace. If the invoices do not include this information, you will also need the product manufacturers, UPC numbers, descriptions, and case quantities (most of which can often be found on the outside of the shipping box and/or in your distributors’ online listings/descriptions).
2. Fill out our survey (link below) and upload the invoices.
3. Choose the reusable items you’d like to purchase.
Please read below for the fine print…
SCHOOLS: Subsidy is 100% of the cost of a reusable item, and there is no cap on the price per item (though we reserve the right to limit our subsidy to the cost of a materially similar product). Schools must either select from our list of pre-approved resuable items that have undergone third-party certified lab testing for heavy metals, or work with us to order third-party lab tests on the item(s) you’ve chosen. We no longer subsidize school purchases of reusables containing plastic.
OTHER NON-PROFITS (e.g., Meals On Wheels): Subsidy is 100% of the cost of reusable items that do not contain virgin plastic. Subsidy is 25% of the cost of reusable items that do contain virgin plastic, up to a cap of $1.00 per item. Non-profits that primarily feed children must either select from our list of pre-approved resuable items that have undergone third-party certified lab testing for heavy metals, or work with us to order third-party lab tests on the item(s) you’ve chosen. We no longer subsidize purchases of reusables containing plastic for any entity that primarily serves children.
RESTAURANTS AND FOR-PROFIT ENTITIES: Subsidy is 100% of the cost of reusable items that do not contain virgin plastic. Subsidy is 25% of the cost of reusable items that do contain virgin plastic, up to a cap of $1.00 per item. Restaurants may order from any supplier(s) or manufacturer(s) of their choosing. However, we reserve the right to cap our subsidy offering to the per-unit price of a comparable product.
ALL APPLICANTS: Provided that the number of reusable items being purchased is justified by current/average customer traffic, there is no cap to the number of items subsidized. You do not need to go 100% plastic-free in order to qualify for our subsidies. Any single-use item (e.g., Styrofoam, plastic straws, plastic bags, etc) outlawed by your local, county, or state authority is no longer eligible for our subsidy program. Our subsidy policies and terms are subject to change at any time.
